We’re pleased to employ Physician Assistants (PAs) who work at both Baring Road Medical Centre and Rushey Green Group Practice. PAs work as part of our team alongside doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and other professionals.
As the role is relatively new, we thought it would be helpful to explain more about what PAs can do.
Physician Assistants Training and Knowledge
Physician Assistants are trained to a Masters’ level in conditions that are common in Primary Care.
This covers a wide variety of problems – infections; skin issues; muscle and joint pains; mental health concerns; ear, nose and throat issues; and problems in the digestive system.
Physician Assistants work with GPs to provide safe care, following nationally set guidelines or treatment protocols to make referrals or order tests.
If a prescription is needed, they liaise with a GP team to choose and prescribe the most appropriate medicine.
Physician Assistants Regulation
All our PAs have chosen to be regulated by the General Medical Council (GMC).
